glitter

oil pastel by jabelico

"When my mind swallows me whole
with it’s mocking ‘how do you do?’
I go to my corner of silence
and hold glitter in my hand
to throw into the sky,

in the hope that it might

show freedom to me in tears

When my heart aches with a sadness
for my world that has gone mad
I climb into a moment of respite
and let a shining song wash over me
so in the sparkling I might see

a glimmer of hope in today

Today I found myself breathing
hot and dry air on my scar
and saw the rusted chains
that keeps me captive to the ground
so I reach in,

but not a sound

my glitter, there is none".
